How we rank
When you ask us to help you choose, we score each destination from 0 to 100 using the same simple formula for everyone. Here it is, in full.
Do you want to settle long term (permanent residence, children’s education) or work, save and return? We compare that with how strong the general route to permanent residence is, or how well suited a destination is to temporary contracts.
If your family is coming, or family is a key motivation, we weigh how family-friendly the destination generally is.
If you want to move fast, faster typical routes score higher. If you are patient, timeline matters less.
If your budget is tight, destinations with lower typical upfront costs for the nurse (and where employers often help) score higher.
How close the destination’s general climate is to the one you said you prefer.
Whether you want to stay close to home, or do not mind distance.
How large and diverse the communities are, including faith groups and people from home, weighted more if that matters to you.
Whether you would need another professional language (German, or French for Quebec).
Each factor gives a value between 0 and 1 for a destination, based on your answers and the destination’s general attributes. We multiply each value by its weight and add them up. The weights total 100, so the result is a score from 0 to 100.
We then show the three plain reasons that contributed most, and a side-by-side comparison of steps, timeline and difficulty.
If your home country is on the WHO Health Workforce Support and Safeguards List, and a destination restricts active recruitment from it (for example the UK), we still show that destination and say so honestly. You can always apply directly. Read our statement.
Attributes like climate, typical timeline band and typical cost band are general and editorial. They are not regulatory facts, and we review them regularly.
